Basque Country: the charm of the interior

A SET OF BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES

The Basque country offers remarkable landscapes, as well as a set of preserved villages with typical Basque country architecture, a set of white houses with red shutters in the midst of green mountain landscapes. Some are fairly close to the “second line” coast, and house prices are quite high. On the other hand, as one moves away from the coast, the prices fall.

PRICE EVOLUTION WITHIN LAND

Thus cities such as Arcangues, Arbonne, Ascain, and Ahetze have higher prices than Sare Saint Pée, Espelette or Ustaritz. Arcangues, Arbonne and Ahetze are often a carryover market from the coastal market with very high prices, but are also very popular with lovers of beautiful Basque houses or properties with large spaces. As soon as you cross the motorway to the other side, for example at Ahetze (bordering Guéthary and Saint Jean de Luz), the average house price per m² reaches 3,775 Euros / m².

Further inside you will find houses, for example in Sare or Saint Pée where prices remain around 3,000 Euros/m².

Regardless of the city, the prices will be higher depending on the state of renovation of the property, and the mountain view which is quite popular.
